cold reading
Did I understand your question?

Cold Reading

YOU'VE GOT FIVE MINUTES...
...that's about how long the average
cold reading or general interview lasts.
And there are no more important five
minutes in your career. Everything you
do - putting together resumes and
resume shots; getting an agent;
joining the unions; dropping in on
people; etc.- everything boils down to
a general interview or cold reading.
Then, it's three hundred seconds of
dynamite or forget it.
Most actors (and frankly, most classes)
understand this-when it comes to cold
readings. But if you think being an
"excellent interview" isn't important,
you just don't understand this
industry. A good half of the jobs you go
up for will be based solely on a
general interview.
Fortunately, both - cold reading and
interview technique- are skills that can
be learned- with practice..."

                           FROM M.K. LEWIS BOOK
                     YOUR FILM ACTING CAREER
CAN YOU ANSWER...

• "Tell me about yourself?"
• "What have you done recently?"
• "How old are you?"

DO YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO IF...

• The director asks you to read something other than you have
   been working on?

• The person you're reading with is terrible?

• The casting director gives you only five minutes to look at the script?

• And do you know what they're really looking for when you read?

IF YOU DON'T, you're making mistakes that are costing you jobs,
agents, money and contacts. If you're going to make those mistakes,
do it where they can be corrected - with no harm to your career. And,
in 10 weeks, through on-camera training, be sure you never make
them again.
